Never Satisfied?

Millions of people today spend a lifetime searching for love, acceptance and success without really understanding the need that compels them.
It must be understood that this hunger for self-worth is God-given and can only be truly and completely satisfied by Himself.
Our value is not dependent on our ability to earn the fickle acceptance of people, but rather, it's true source is the love and acceptance of our Heavenly Father.
He created us. He Alone knows how to fulfill all of our needs. (Phil 4:19)

In Scripture, we find God supplying all that is essential for us to discover our worth and our true significance.

First and foremost, He tells us how important we are to Him:
You are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.
-Is. 43:4.

While people will come and go based on their feelings, on situations, and as a result of their human nature, He will never leave or abandon us:
I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down or relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!
-Hebrews 13:5

Again, it must be understood that our hunger for love, acceptance, and self-worth is given to us by God and can only be truly satisfied by Himself.
When His love and acceptance are our primary focus and we continually dwell on these truths, the yearnings for the approval of man will fade, and our joy will be more complete as we bask in His unfailing love for us.

By Your Side

by Tenth Avenue North

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching as if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

And I'll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don't fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

Look at these hands and my side
They swallowed the grave on that night
When I drank the world's sin
So I could carry you in
And give you life
I want to give you life

I'll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don't fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

Cause I, I love you
I want you to know
That I, I love you
I'll never let you go

My hands are holding you

All I Really Want

Psalm 142

I cry out to the Lord;
I plead for the Lord’s mercy.
I pour out my complaints before Him
and tell Him all my troubles.

When I am overwhelmed,
You alone know the way I should turn.
I look for someone to come and help me,
but no one gives me a passing thought!

Then I pray to you, O Lord.
I say, “You are my place of refuge.
You are ALL I REALLY WANT IN LIFE.

Hear my cry,
for I am very low.
Rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.

Bring me out of prison
so I can thank You.
The godly will crowd around me,
for You are GOOD to me.”

Let Him Hold Your Heart

C.S. Lewis once stated, "To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will possibly be broken."

Every girl everywhere today wants someone to come sweep her off her feet and steal her heart away.
So often, her heart is too open, and, therefore, too often easily broken.

No relationship ever delivers what was dreamt it could. Fantasy eventually collides with reality, and reality bites ... and sometimes hard.
Occasionally, the heart that was given away is found on the ground, shattered in a million pieces.

The broken one cries out in pain, "I gave you my heart, and you broke it!"
And there was no avoiding it - Every girl everywhere today is eager to give her heart away.

So how does one guard the heart to avoid brokenness again?
The answer is clear: you can't!

The loving father's natural instinct is to protect - especially when it comes to the heart of his beloved daughter.
However, again the answer is the same: he cannot guard his daughter's heart.

It is humanly impossible to guard the heart - male or female.
He Who created the heart and created love can alone guard the hearts of His creation.

Every painful thing experienced in relationships is meant to remind man of his need for Christ.
He hears the tears falling on the pavement. He understands the pain of loss, hurt, and confusion. He hears the cries of a broken heart.

He longs to hold that heart and renew, reshape, and remold it for His glory!
And He can use the brokenness and the shattered pieces of the heart and mold them into a beautiful, mosaic masterpiece.

Let Him Hold Your Heart.

In Philippians 4:6-7, we read: “in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will Guard Your Hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
